EBow / Learn

Learn how to use your electronic bow

Choose a lesson, establish the basic response and add one new movement at a time.

01

Getting started

Select the neck pickup and turn the others off. Reduce guitar volume and treble while learning: the signal can rise strongly near the pickup. Start on a middle string, with the guide grooves supported on its neighbours and the driven string centred in the DriveChannel. The first-use lesson covers grip, alignment, a reliable first note and the corrections to try when the response is slow.

Playing techniques

Once a note sustains, glide towards and away from the pickup to hear changes in volume and brightness. Find the HotSpot before trying fast string changes. The technique reference builds on that control with bowing, pressing, tilting, rocking and spiccato, then explains arpeggios and other cross-string gestures. It is a reference to return to as your playing develops, rather than a list to master in one session.

Harmonic mode

Compare standard and harmonic modes using the same note and pickup. Standard mode favours the fundamental; harmonic mode encourages upper harmonics. The focused lesson explains the switch, gliding for a wah-like colour and the contribution of bends and vibrato. It also distinguishes mode choice from alignment: the string still needs room to vibrate freely.
